Welcome to the 2016 - 2017 Ravens Swim and Dive site!
Canyon Crest Academy is a CIF Division I school within the Avocado West League. The season runs from mid-February to mid-May. Swimmers and divers practice in the mornings before school at Cathedral Catholic High School. Greg Spire is the Head Swim Coach and Jamie Pearce is the Dive Coach.
Throughout the year, you can meet other swimmers and divers by participating in Aquatics Club. Look for announcements about club meetings in the Daily Bulletin.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
9/1/17- Parents! We need your help to run a successful season. The coaches are here to primarily coach our athletes to be successful at meets. But there are many supporting parent volunteer roles which make the season successful as well. Volunteer commitments can take anywhere from a few hours during a meet to periodic assistance across the whole season. Here is a list of open volunteer positions (volunteer_openings_2017-2018.pdf). Please contact CCASwimMom@gmail.com to sign up or get more information.
We host 3 or 4 home meets each season and hosting duties include timing and scoring the athletes. We will train volunteers for these jobs an hour before the meet. A well run meet requires at least 20 parents helping. If your work schedule allows, consider taking off one afternoon during the season to help. The meet schedule will be finalized in early March.

In order to participate on our team you will need to complete the Athletic Clearance at http://www.ccaravensathletics.com/clearance.html. The application is due in January and we will update when we know the specific date. The clearance paperwork requires a physical evaluation form which can be found at http://cc.sduhsd.net/documents/AthleticsDocs/Physical.pdf. Qualifying physicals must have been completed after June 1, 2017.
The deadline to RSVP for the banquet is tomorrow, May 23rd. To RSVP please fill out this google form:
Even if you do not plan on attending please fill out the RSVP form or email norstav@aol.com saying that you can't attend.

Early release for meet today (3/17/17) is at 1:45pm.

CCA Swim and Dive will have our first social event this Saturday, March 11th. The laser tag bonding event will be held at ULTRAZONE Laser Tag, Sports Arena Boulevard, San Diego, CA from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. Each game is $9 per player. We are planning on playing two games, so participants should bring money accordingly. After we finish (around 6-6:30pm), we will be eating a team dinner at In-N-Out Burger. Please account for the cost of dinner in addition to the cost of laser tag. In-N-Out Burger is approximately 200 ft away from ULTRAZONE (according to Google Maps) so it's nice and convenient and has great food. It's also a good way to just sit down and enjoy some down time as a whole team.
We hope a lot of people can make it and that this event will help unite us as a team.

Sectional Swimmers
It was great to see CCA swimmers out in force during this weekends Speedo Sectionals Swim Meet at Alga Norte in Carlsbad. The Speedo Sectionals Series displays some of the top swimming talent from across the United States. Congratulations to Carlie Dorostkar, Allison Liu, Crystal Yang, Heloise Leblanc, Cassidy Liu, Lukas Marxer, Oleg Nikolaev and Phoebe Betts. Shoutouts go to Oleg who made the Junior National cut in the 500 free and Carlie Dorostkar who drop close to 3 seconds in her 200 fly and the opportunity to swim in the C final.
VARISTY AND JV ROSTERS 2017!!
A note from Coach Greg: I have completed the Varsity and Junior Varsity rosters. Please note that these rosters may change pending attendance, attitude and performance. If you are on the JV roster and you really feel that you should be on the Varsity roster, please make a little time after swim practice to talk to me about it. It coming up with these rosters, I looked at past performance in both highschool and USA swimming. We have observed you during the last 2 weeks at practice and feel this is a good start for the season.

2017 Season Info - Practice will begin Tuesday February 21, 2017
- Practice at Cathedral Catholic High School. From Del Mar Heights, go south on Old Carmel Valley Rd and turn right into the parking lot. Go left and all the way to the back corner for drop off. If you are driving, take the side road past the shed and park on the far side (heading out). Pick up at the same place.
- Practice ends at 7:10 AM; bring soap and shampoo if you want to shower at CCHS

Student Athletes:
1. Please carpool to CCHS if you can, this will help relieve a lot of traffic on the back access road.
2. Please park on the lower half of the access road, past the T-in the road, drive to the bottom, turn around and park on the right hand-side facing up and park behind each other.
3. As you exit the access road, please be careful driving through the lot to exit on to Old Carmel Valley Road.
4. Please DO NOT PARK in any of the numbered spots.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-up:
1. Please use our front main parking lot off of Del Mar Heights Road to drop-off and pick-up ONLY.
2. There is a baseball/pool gate by our facilities department area that leads down to the pool..
2. When you pick-up, please DO NOT PARK in any numbered parking spots, as the belong to faculty/staff and or students.
3. VISITOR SPOTS are located in the first row of the main lot facing the Claver Center / GYM.
4. You may also park along the tennis courts on the right-hand side of the road.
5. If any of those are full, please check with security at the security kiosk or the turn-around area to help you with more parking.
